It Started with Yosemite

In December 2023, for no particular reason, I decided to see how much camp sites cost at Yosemite National Park. Turns out, they aren't expensive, but they are competitive: everything in the valley was already booked as far out as you could go. It just so happened though, that they would be releasing more dates the following morning. So I looked through the options, made note of the site numbers I liked best and set an alarm on my phone for the next day.

I added my first choice to my cart, but someone else bought it before I could complete the reservation. My second choice, however, was successful!

Yosemite in April. Okay, now what?

Over the next couple months, I pieced together a plan. Airbnbs, hotels and campsites. I knew I wanted to go back to San Diego and see some of the things I missed out on when I lived there nine years earlier.

The Inevitable End

I almost didn't add the Grand Canyon to the trip because I thought it would be too much. It ended up being the perfect finale to close out the adventure before the long trek home.

The final day was a twelve hour drive back to Houston. As much as I was ready for the driving to end for the day, I still didn't want to go home.
